COP21 opens in Paris with GreenEcoNet consortium attending

On Monday 30th November 2015, the World leaders met in Paris to open the UNFCCC COP21 summitto reach a historic global climate deal.

Nearly 400 guests from the political, association and cultural spheres, as well as the negotiating and organizing teams for COP21, responded to the President’s invitation, to set the works in motion. For the occasion, the traditional red carpet on the steps to the Élysée Palace was replaced with a green carpet, in the colour of the official COP21 logo. Before taking his place, the President of the Republic visited the exhibition “60 solutions against climate change” by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, the panels of which were installed in the corridor leading to the Salle des Fêtes. Prime Minister Manuel Valls then gave the opening speech, stressing “the consequences of climate change that are already visible” and on France’s “decisive role”.
