Will Hayes, the Director of Green Warehouse has been marketing and reselling products since 2001, he started with an importing business and slowly expanded to specialise in ecological products including recycling bins.
Will has a background in product engineering and wanted to make an innovative product. He had an ambitious idea to make his own recycle bins, he noticed that there wasn’t a product that was specifically designed for the modern work place.
He set to work designing, not just any generic recycling bin, but a recycling bin made from recycled plastic. During this voyage of discovery he found that mountains of usable post-consumer plastic was being thrown away every day in the UK. And thus the idea for the uBin started.

uBin – Benefits
The uBin is innovative because it is the first recycle bin to be made entirely out of post-consumer recycled plastic, when you know this, it is difficult to imagine that this was not done before. It makes sense that recycle bins should be made from recycled material.
In 2012 to the present date we have made a quantifiable achievement for the environment, we produced over 5000 bins that is 15 tonnes of post-consumer plastic entering the sustainable cycle. That would otherwise have gone to landfill.
The uBin has been designed using polypropylene using WRAP colours and graphics, thus promoting, encouraging and unifying recycling standards in the UK improving the environment in many aspects.
The product is made in the UK from UK waste material so this benefits the UK economy, it means less waste is exported, more income to UK manufacturers. Green Warehouse itself has created jobs for the local area within Bristol and supports other local businesses.
The uBin has long-term environmental benefit too as it contributes to a sustainable cycle and thus reduces the dependency on crude oil which can be harmful to the environment.
Other organisations and communities can benefit by using the uBin in a number of ways. The product actively encourages the consumer to recycle their own waste, and also enables them to learn the WRAP standardization used in other recycling products. It may spark ideas in the ways they themselves can make products from recycled material and how they can implement a sustainable recycling system in their work place.
