Connecting SMEs for a green economy

GreenEcoNet workshop in Berlin on SMEs in a Green(er) Economy

On the 28th November 2014, the Ecologic Insitute, Berlin, will be hosting an open, 1 day GreenEcoNet-workshop on the 'Role and Challenges of SMEs in a Green(er) Economy – Barriers, Needs and Policy Options'.

Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) form the crucial backbone of Europe's economy and SMEs therefore have much to contribute towards the wider goal of a sustainable and green economy.

Nonetheless, making the transition to a green(er) economy poses unique challenges for SMEs, including negative market pressure, unfavourable regulatory environments, misaligned client expectations, and difficult changes in core business models.

The Ecologic workshop aims to bring together intermediaries, multipliers and policy actors from across Germany and Europe to support green SMEs in making the transition through the GreenEcoNet project.

The workshops three stated objectives are to:

  • Exchange experience and define needs in relation to successfully thrive in a green(er) economy

  • Discuss policy options to foster SMEs‘ performance in a green(er) economy

  • Introduce a web platform aiming at fostering networking and exchange of experience on a European level.

The GreenEcoNet online web platform will also be presented and workshop participants will be invited to provide feedback and ask questions.

Workshop participation is free of charge and open to all, with coffee and lunch provided at the venue:
Ecologic Institute, Pfalzburger Str. 43-44, 10717 Berlin.

Online registration for the Workshop is available here on a first-come-first-serve basis until closure on 5th November 2014.
