Dr. Dick van Beers
Dick's expertise is in sustainable production, eco-innovation, sustainability driven business models, industrial ecology, and sustainable industrial development, and strategic waste management. He has 15 years international consultancy and research experience in various sectors, including manufacturing, resource processing, waste processing, government, and international development. He is passionate about working with business and industries to scale up their innovations and positive impacts on people, the planet, and profits. Dick is the CSCP Team Leader for Sustainable Business and Entrepreneurship. In this role Dick is contributing to various CSCP projects including the Business Innovation for Sustainable Scale up (BISS) project, two SWITCH-Asia projects in Thailand, the bigEE project on improving energy efficiency in buildings, and the greenXpo eco-innovation platform.
Dick held previous positions with GHD engineering firm, the Centre of Excellence in Cleaner Production Perth, Centre for Industrial Ecology at Yale University, and African Environmental Solutions. He holds an PhD (Industrial Ecology) from Curtin University of Technology (Perth), MSc in Applied Science from University of Cape Town, and BSc in Industrial Engineering from University of Professional Education Tilburg (Netherlands). Through his studies and work, Dick has lived in The Netherlands, South Africa, USA, New Zealand, Australia, and Germany.
